Everything you need to know to build your Storyboard and start playing.
Heroic is a community-created multiplayer variant of Disney Lorcana that prioritizes storytelling, character synergy, and creative deckbuilding. Inspired by the classic Disney formula of a main character, loyal ally, and memorable song, it emphasizes narrative gameplay and player expression.
Think of it as Lorcana's answer to Commander — a 100-card singleton format where your deck revolves around three signature cards called your Storyboard.
Your Storyboard is a special, visible public zone where your three signature cards begin the game. These cards define your deck's identity and color palette:
Any Legendary character card. This is the star of your story and the anchor of your strategy.
Any character with the Ally subtype. Your faithful companion who supports the hero's journey.
Any Song that can be sung by your Main Character. Your anthem that captures the spirit of your deck.
Your Main Character and Ally cannot share the same character name. This ensures each deck tells a story with distinct characters.
Your deck must contain exactly 100 unique cards (3 Storyboard + 97 in the deck). No duplicates except cards that specifically allow it.
You may use only the ink colors that appear within your Storyboard trio. Your Main Character, Ally, and Song determine which colors your deck can use.
Three songs cannot be chosen as your Signature Song (but may go in your 97-card deck): "A Whole New World", "Be Prepared", and "Beyond the Horizon".
Your Storyboard cards are always available. Cast any of them during your turn by paying the base Ink cost plus any accumulated Ink Tax. When a Storyboard card would leave play or change zones, you may optionally return it to the Storyboard instead.
Each time a Storyboard card is banished or returned to the Storyboard, the Ink Tax increases by 1. This tax is shared across all three cards and accumulates throughout the game.
Example: Your Main Character (cost 5) is banished and returns to the Storyboard. The Ink Tax is now 1. Playing any Storyboard card now costs its base cost + 1. If your Main Character is banished again, the tax becomes 2, so your Ally (cost 3) would now cost 5 to play.
Bypass with Shift:You may Shift your Main Character onto a valid target to bypass the Ink Tax. Songs may be sung by any character, but the singer's cost must meet or exceed the Song's cost plus any Ink Tax.
The first player to reach 30 Lore wins (instead of the standard 20). This gives every story time to develop and every character arc time to build.
All players compete individually. “Opponents” affects all other players; “Opponent” targets one player of your choice.
Strategic alliances, clever politics, and social dynamics are a core part of the format. Forge temporary alliances or embrace the villain role.
Your Main Character, Ally, and Song are the leads of your story. They shape your playstyle, strategic choices, and the narrative you create at the table.
Cards that rarely see competitive play get meaningful roles through context and creativity. Heroic gives every card a chance to shine in the right story.
The escalating Ink Tax creates dramatic tension like a Disney climax. Each replay is more costly, forcing difficult decisions about when to bring your heroes back for their grand return.
